Wellness Forum “Health Care Economics: The Challenges & Possible Solutions”
Eric Lewis, Board President of Sequim’s Free Clinic will present a WOW! Working on Wellness Radio Forum on Wednesday, November 12th, 2:00-3:00 pm on KSQM FM (91.5) radio station.
Eric Lewis grew up in Selah, Washington, a town about the size of Sequim. He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in business administration and worked as a CPA at the Arthur Andersen accounting firm in Seattle before becoming the vice president-controller at Stevens Healthcare in Edmonds. In 1998 he went to work for OMC as the chief financial officer and he was named CEO in 2006, heading a tax-supported health care system with 1,550 employees for the next 14 years. He focused on strategic planning, recruitment and advocacy during his CEO tenure. He was part of the team that developed the OMC Sequim campus and the medical office building in Port Angeles, implemented Epic in 2013, and significantly grew OMC’s services. After OMC, he went on to serve as the chief financial officer for the Washington State Hospital Association for five years, where he helped the WSHA’s 114 member hospitals navigate the public finance policies that affect hospitals financial health. Eric recently retired after a 40-year career in healthcare during which he grew deeply passionate and knowledgeable about public policy, and he will share all his knowledge about hospital finances with us in this forum. In addition, he will explain the reasons health care cost so much and how costs can be better controlled and health outcomes improved.
WOW! Working on Wellness is a health education program of Dungeness Valley Health Wellness Clinic—Sequim’s free clinic. The Clinic provides basic urgent care and chronic health care services to uninsured community members. Our work is supported by more than seventy volunteers, including physicians, other professional health care providers and laypersons, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and beyond.
